FEMA Youth Preparedness Council

FEMA Youth Preparedness Council

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, better known as FEMA, is accepting applications for its Youth Preparedness Council.  This program will teach children ages 13 to 17 how to become better prepared if an emergency hits their community.

If selected, you will serve for a one-year term where you will share your opinions, ideas, solutions, and questions about disaster preparedness with FEMA leaders. This program will provide an opportunity for young people to make a difference in their community by giving them a sense involvement and teaching them how to take on a leadership role.

To get a role on the council, children must be dedicated to public service, interested in making a difference for their community, and show potential to impact the community as a national advocate for youth preparedness.

If this sounds like something you are interested in, applications are due by March 2, 2015. For more information on what the youth council does and the application process you can visit http://www.ready.gov/youth-preparedness-council
