Clinton County’s Longest Day of Play – Friday, June 23, 2017

Below is a calendar of events for Clinton County’s 5th Annual Longest Day of Play. Events take place throughout Clinton County on Friday, June 23rd from 9 AM to 7 PM and include face-painting, kayaking, swimming, disc golf, zumba and jumping in a bounce house. Make sure to mark your calendars and join in the celebration!!!

Living Healthy Workshops – FREE six weekly sessions (Wednesdays; June 15 to July 20, 2017)

Attached is information on 6 FREE weekly workshops being offered at the United Way offices (45 Tom Miller Road) on Wednesdays from 1:30 – 4:00 PM starting on June 15th and ending on July 20th. To attend these workshops, you must be over 18 years of age and have an ongoing health condition (such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, anxiety). The workshops offer information to better manage your condition, deal with fatigue and pain, learn about nutrition and exercise choices, prevent falls, sleep better and much more!!! Be the Hero: Share Your Story

Evidence suggests that stigma is the #1 reason why individuals who may be in need of mental health treatment/services do not seek such treatment. The Anti-Stigma Coalition and the Clinton County Coalition to Prevent Suicide presents “Be the Hero: Share Your Story”, a series of events focused on increasing awareness and education around mental health. All events are open to the public.

CHW Scholarships for students living in Affordable Housing (Deadline: April 15, 2017)

Attached is information on the 2017 Cannon Heyman & Weiss Scholarship Funds available for full- and part-time students who live in affordable housing and attend colleges, technical schools or other post-secondary institutions leading to a degree, diploma or certificate. Three scholarships will be awarded this year (one $10,000.00 scholarship, one $7,500.00 scholarship, and one $5,000.00 scholarship). Deadline for applying is April 15, 2017. Good luck!!!

Breakfast with Santa – Sunday, December 4th at Applebee’s!!!

Join Santa and Mrs. Claus at Applebee’s this Sunday, December 4th from 8-11 AM for a pancake breakfast. All proceeds will benefit Plattsburgh Relay for Life. Pre-event tickets are $7/person or can be purchased at the door for $8/person.

Plattsburgh Downtown Revitalization Initiative – Upcoming workshops (12/10/16 and 2/11/2017)

Attached below is information on two upcoming Community Workshops for the Plattsburgh Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The workshops are scheduled for Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 1-4 PM at the Cardinal Lounge in the Angell College Center and for Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 1-3 PM at Plattsburgh City Hall.

Please plan on attending to learn about what is being considered/proposed and to have an opportunity to voice your opinions/concerns.

Senior Scholars – 6 week lecture series (Thursdays, January 27 – March 2, 2017)

Adirondack Enrichment presents “Senior Scholars” which is a 6-week lecture series on Thursdays from January 27 to March 2, 2017 (10:30 AM to 3:00 PM) at the Valcour Brewing Company located at 49 Ohio Avenue, Plattsburgh. Registration is required at a cost of $125.00 for the 6-week series (non-refundable) and lunch is included. Attached below is more information on the lectures. Topics include: The Witch Craze in Early Modern Europe; Modernism in Early 20th-Century American Fiction; Exploring the History of American Exploration; and Adirondack Chautauqua.
