A Chance to Tell Your Public Housing Story

ReThink: Why Housing Matters is working with Emmy award winning film studio, Stillmotion to make a documentary about people whose lives have been impacted by public housing and they want you here your story.

This is your chance to share  your personal experience with public housing and show how important it really is. This opportunity is open to anyone currently residing in PHA, on the waiting list, and people in need of housing.

All you need to do is fill out a short, very simple questionnaire here by Friday, April 10.

CVPH Easter Egg Hunt

The CVPH Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place this Saturday, April 4, at 10 am on the CVPH front lawn. This free event is open to children in 2nd grade and younger. There will be a separate area for children under the age of three.

Kids must bring their own basket to put their collected eggs in and the Easter Bunny will be there for pictures before and after the hunt!

HAI Scholarship Opportunity

Are you looking for a chance to attend college or finish your education? The Housing Authority Insurance, Inc. is offering 50 scholarships worth $2,500 each. Applications must be completed and submitted by Thursday, April 30. The winners will be notified in June 2015.

Master Gardener Workshop at the Imaginarium

The Imaginarium Children’s Museum is having Master Gardener from Cornell Cooperative Extension on Monday, March 30 at 2:00 pm to help children learn how to pot a plant to take home for just $5 for children over 1 and free for children under 1! This is a great opportunity to get your children to experience and fall in love with the relaxing activity of gardening. If they really enjoy it, you can apply for a gardening plot for Summer 2015 so they can put to use what they’ve learned!

Press Republican Job and Career Fair

The Press Republican is hosting a job fair on March 18 at the Holiday Inn, Route 3 in Plattsburgh.  From 10-11 a.m. it is reserved for veterans and their spouses only and 11-2 is open to everyone.  There will be employers, recruiters, and information that will help you get a new job or career.

Go Trails Survey

The Clinton County Health Department and the Action for Health Consortium are working to increase healthy opportunities for Clinton County residents. You can help by taking this quick 5 minute survey here in order to help them better understand what residents want and need from local trails in Clinton County.

 

March Events at the Champlain Valley Senior Center

The Champlain Valley Senior Center, in Willsboro, NY, is hosting a variety of events to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

On March 8th the Champlain Valley Irish dancers will be performing at 3 pm. There will be music and stories with Ron Wood at 10:30 am on March 17.  In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, there will also be themed cocktails and tales with Kate List at 3:30 pm.

Friday’s Happy Hour starts at 2 pm and offers live music and refreshments for your enjoyment.  Liberty Jam Band will be on March 6 and March 20, The Lonesome Travelers will be on March 13, and Low Allen will be March 27.

Music Mondays will feature live piano and accordion from Ed Schenk on March 16 and Flashback Band on March 23, both at 2 pm.

The center will also be having a basketball celebration on March 21 at 3 pm to celebrate the history of the former school, that is now the Champlain Valley Senior Center, and basketball team, the Willsboro Warriors.

Transportation is not provided.
