Community Garden at PHA
Plattsburgh Community Garden Group is working with Plattsburgh Housing Authority to build twelve 4’ x 12’ raised garden beds in the vacant lot located directly behind the PHA Administrative Office building at 4817 South Catherine Street. Eleven of these twelve beds will be available for families within PHA for the yearly fee of $25.00/bed. If more than 11 families are interested in these garden beds, all interested families will be entered into a lottery and names will be drawn to award the beds for the 2014 season. Plattsburgh Community Garden Group will then enter into a plot holder agreement and collect the yearly $25.00 plot fee from the awarded families.
Additionally, we are looking for volunteers to help us with this project from late-April to early-May 2014. Volunteer labor is needed to help in the construction of the garden shed and the raised beds, to help fill the raised beds with soil, and to lay wood chip mulch around the gardens.
If you are interested in signing up for a bed and/or helping with the labor needs, please contact Tammy Langley, Housing Assistance Supervisor, at (518) 561-0720 extension 224 or by email at Tammy@phaplattsburgh.com no later than Thursday, March 20th (the first day of Spring). With your support and help, we are hoping to open the garden beds for planting on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26, 2014).

The PHA held a kickoff to the campaign on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Ted K. Center from 5 – 6:30 pm. We appreciate all who attended and will update our webpage and facebook page with details!
